Exercise Caution: MEA Urges Indians to Be Extremely Vigilant While Seeking Jobs in Iran

New Delhi – The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has issued a serious advisory urging Indian citizens to exercise extreme caution if they are considering job opportunities in Iran. This warning comes in light of disturbing reports involving Indian nationals being misled by fake job offers and trapped in dangerous situations abroad.

According to MEA, there has been a worrying rise in cases where Indians have been lured with promises of lucrative jobs in Iran or with misleading assurances that they would soon be transferred to third countries for employment. However, upon arrival in Iran, many of these individuals have found themselves in the hands of criminal gangs, who have kidnapped them and demanded ransom money from their families back in India.

The MEA clearly stated that visa-free entry into Iran is permitted solely for tourism purposes. Any agent claiming otherwise — particularly those promising jobs or onward travel — is likely operating in collusion with criminal networks.

The advisory emphasizes:

“All Indian citizens are strongly cautioned to exercise the strictest vigilance regarding such employment promises or offers. Please be aware and informed – your safety is non-negotiable.”
