J&K Police Earns National Honour for Excellence in Passport Verification Services

Srinagar, June 25 – In a moment of pride for the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, the J&K Police has been nationally recognized for their unwavering dedication to public service, particularly in the area of passport verification.

For the first time ever, the force has been officially acknowledged among the best-performing police departments in the country for the year 2024-25. This recognition isn’t just a number on a plaque—it’s a reflection of tireless work, commitment to citizens, and the belief that every passport cleared brings someone closer to their dreams.

Between April 2024 and March 2025, J&K Police successfully completed verification for a remarkable 134,219 passport applications, demonstrating not only efficiency but a sincere commitment to timely service delivery. This milestone places them at the forefront of police services across India in this vital area.

The honour was conferred by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) during Passport Seva Divas, an annual event commemorating the enactment of the Passport Act of 1967. The event, held at CB Muthamma Hall in Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan, New Delhi, was attended by dignitaries including Pabitra Margherita, Minister of State for External Affairs, senior MEA officials, and representatives from 37 passport offices across India.

What made this year’s celebration particularly special was the heartfelt recognition of J&K Police’s role in ensuring seamless and trustworthy passport verification—a task that demands both speed and precision. In a deeply symbolic moment, Rayees Mohammad Bhat (IPS), DIG CID, received the Certificate of Recognition on behalf of the force, standing tall as a representative of every officer who worked behind the scenes.

“This award belongs to every constable, every officer who chose duty over comfort,” a senior official reflected. “They’ve not just verified passports—they’ve verified hope, opportunity, and trust in our system.”

This milestone sends a clear message: when systems work with sincerity, service becomes more than a job—it becomes a mission. And today, J&K Police stands proud, not just as protectors of law, but as enablers of dreams.
