— A Tribute to Shaheed Syed Adil Hussain Shah

In the cradle of mountains, where rivers hum old rhymes,
Lies a land where the chinars whisper to time.
Kashmir, the valley of sufi dreams and snow,
Now weeps for a lion it could not hold.
He walked not in armor, nor bore a sword,
But Syed Adil Hussain Shah answered a call unheard.
Not for fame, nor for glory’s hollow light,
But to stand for peace in the heart of the night.
Tourists had come — wide-eyed, unaware,
To breathe the beauty, to taste mountain air.
But shadows crept where laughter had been,
As terror struck with its blood-chilling grin.
Twenty-six lives were stolen with ruthless might,
More than twenty wounded — a soul-crushing sight.
Yet amidst the chaos, one heart beat brave,
Choosing not flight, but others to save.
He saw the barrel. He felt the threat.
He grabbed the gun — no room for regret.
A gesture divine, a defiance bold,
In that fleeting second, Kashmir’s soul was told.
Not all warriors wear uniforms or fame,
Some carry courage in an unspoken name.
Syed Adil tried to wrest peace from war,
Tried to disarm what hatred bore.
But another shot rang — a thief in the dark,
A bullet that silenced this valley’s spark.
He fell — not broken, but crowned instead,
With martyr’s glory where angels tread.
Shot in the head, but higher he soared,
The son of the soil whom the heavens adored.
He died not for a banner, not for a creed,
But for humanity’s call, in its truest need.
He shielded the guests, of different faith and face,
And proved Kashmiriyat — its truest grace.
That in the house of sufi saints and snow,
Love still blooms where bullets blow.
Oh, motherland, cradle his name in prayer,
Tell the children that heroes still dare.
Let not the Godi noise poison our view,
This was a Muslim, saving others like true.
His blood was a verse written into our land,
Not of vengeance, but of a helping hand.
To those who seek division, take heed and know,
A Kashmiri gave his life so love may grow.
In memory of Shaheed Syed Adil Hussain Shah
The Flame of Bravery. The Spirit of Kashmir.
